Rev. Lauren Van Ham, Guest Facilitator

Lauren was born and raised on the Midwest prairie. Her professional life began as a performance artist in NYC and eventually moved her to California to pursue graduates studies in creation spirituality and inter-religious spiritual care. Following her ordination, Lauren worked as a hospital chaplain for 9 years. Her work with Green Sangha is featured in Renewal, a documentary celebrating the efforts of religious environmental activists from diverse faith traditions across America.

With a sustainability consultancy in San Francisco, Lauren was a member of the founding team that facilitated over 200 day-long sustainability workshops for the 1.2 million associates of Walmart Stores, Inc. She worked, subsequently with a range of Fortune 1000 clients to develop trainings to build bridges between the inner/outer ecology of individuals and organizations.

To ritually honor her professional work with her deep call to integrate earth-spirit-justice, Lauren renewed her ordination vows in June, 2007, and professed herself at “Eco-Chaplain.” Lauren holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, Naropa University, and is clergy-in-good-standing with The CHI Interfaith Community. She tends a private spiritual direction practice and serves as Dean for The Chaplaincy Institute in Berkeley, CA.
